February 15, 2018. Time to see the Taj Mahal upfront. The iconic monument has always been ingrained in our collective imagination as humanity reinforced by countless books, photographs, films, cultural references (only rivaled I guess by the Giza Pyramids), it was so surreal to finally see it in person, upfront, and basking on the sunset’s golden hues.
A worthwhile tip I employed during my visit was to enter the Taj Mahal from its eastern gate, where less tourists go through (also because it is out of the way from most hotels and establishments), and to go during sunset when most tourists would be on their way out. Not only would you have more of the Taj Mahal to yourself (not completely, of course)–but you would be graced with spectacular views of the monument with the orange glow of the sunset.
