August 29-30, 2019. We started off our third day (August 29) in Paris with a morning stroll at the Place de Trocadero to have our photos taken with the Eiffel Tower. It still is very surreal for me finally seeing such an iconic monument I’ve only seen in photos, movies and TV shows all my life till then.
From Trocadero we walked to Champ de Mars and had more photos of us taken. We continued walking all the way to Pont Alexandre III until we reached the banks of the Seine near Musée d’Orsay. From there, we boarded a river cruise which also served lunch. A very tourist thing to do, but that was exactly what we were. I still couldn’t get over how I am finally here in this city.
That afternoon, I took my parents to the Louvre. Apparently, it takes three whole days (or more, maybe) to see all the exhibits in the Louvre. It only took an hour, however, for my dad, typical of Pinoy fathers his age, to express his disinterest in the fine arts and demanded that we go back to the hotel because he was, understandably, tired from all the walking we’ve done for this day. ‘Sino ba yang Mona Lisa Mona Lisa na yan?‘ he complained. I didn’t mind not seeing the museum’s most renowned painting that day. I was just so glad I could still travel with my parents before they grow too old to walk long distances with me.
The next day (August 30), we just went to have our photos taken at the Champs Elysée in front of the Arc de Triomphe. I realized that I’ve exhausted my parents with the itinerary I had prepared the past two days so after walking along the famed avenue, we just went back to the hotel and spent the rest of the day lounging, only heading out to have lunch and dinner at places nearby.
